KU Leuven

The Catholic University of Leuven is Belgium’s oldest and
biggest university, with over 39.000 students and more than 1.400
senior academic staff members (full professors) and 5.000 junior
academic staff (assistant professors). It offers a wide
variety of online courses and exercises through mainly 2 platforms,
Edumatic being one of them.
The K.U.Leuven has chosen Edumatic as one of
their core online learning platforms. Edumatic is used as a major
tool in the university’s Toledo platform for e-learning.
Edumatic was developed in collaboration with important research
groups from various faculties:
- Language faculty for the unique translation correction algorithm, the voice recording questions and the questions including Test-to-speech and Speech-to-text technology (Automatic Speech Recognition, ASR).
- The Law faculty for the unique Open question (with fully automated correction and feedback) and Item container question types.
- The Faculty of Business and Economics.
Hundreds of teachers (professors and assistants) are working as authors to create questions and as coaches to do student follow-up. Edumatic is a real and important part of many of the university courses.
