8 out of 10 schools have not yet optimised their use of digital exams

Digitalisation is changing our daily lives and it is changing it fast. Our office hours, our time at home and our school periods are undergoing continuous changes. New steps towards a new digital reality in education are being taken annually. Digital examination or e-assessment is one of the phenomena gaining popularity within education. However, this innovation does not yet seem to have left a real mark on education.

But does this perception match the reality? Does every educational institute make its decision based on the same criteria? What problems can e-assessment solve for a school or university? And why has e-assessment not yet been introduced in a large number of schools?

To answer these questions, and to give direction to the development of its e-assessment software, Televic Education conducted a survey with a large number of high schools, universities and centres for adult education. Televic Education’s development process is based on the current and future needs of its niche markets, and it can only take the right decisions concerning the development of its e-assessment solutions when it has a clear insight into the needs, wants and opinions of educational institutions. This is why Televic Education sent out an extensive online questionnaire and had numerous conversations with the stakeholders at these schools. The result? Valuable insights which will not only influence the development process of our e-assessment solutions, but also offer educational institutions the opportunity to benchmark themselves against others.

Time saving

...that 8 out of 10 schools already uses some form of e-assessment, but that the amount of digital exams still does not compare to the amount of exams being conducted on paper? And did you also know that this means they cannot use the time they save to analyse and optimise their classes, materials or approach, talk to their students, and therefore further optimise the quality of education?

Innovation

…that 7 out of 10 schools will be investing in (new) e-assessment software during the year 2019-2020? Because they want to upgrade to a more functional system, or because the educational policy has recently opened the path to e-assessment.

Reporting possibilities

...that exams no longer only serve to test knowledge and hand out a certificate or a report? More than 5 out of 10 schools thinks e-assessment creates the perfect learning opportunity for the student, allows for better individual follow ups or allows teachers to improve their future exam questions.
